Institute for Music and Health

Group music-making for adults with disabilities, including non-verbal. Easy and fun!

Uses easy, familiar songs like “You Are My Sunshine,” rhythm games, special vocalizations, and more. Participants play percussion instruments like shakers and drums and are encouraged to join in with singing where possible. By using our website, caregivers can sing the songs with students between classes, if desired: just click here to get started. Based on an approach developed by John Diamond, M.D. in conjunction with the IMH. No previous musical experience or skills necessary.

• Age: 18 and up
• When: 7 – 8 pm. Tuesdays, Feb 7 & 21; March 6 & 20
• Where: Lagrange Middle School, 110 Stringham Road, LaGrangeville, NY 12540 (go in main entrance, turn left and follow directions for chorus room)
• Cost: $40 for 2 sessions
